I designed packaging for lentils to highlight their role as a sustaining force in Italian culture: a call to celebrate the simplest of things. My illustrations highlight small gestures in cooking that alert us to the wonder of the process, thereby inspiring reverence - rinsing lentils, pouring water into a pot, seasoning the beans, and finishing the dish with olive oil. These humble gestures force us to be present and notice the small moments that sustain us.
